Karen McCarthy

Karen McCarthy is Vice President, Head of Financing at Aktis Oncology. Karen’s experience spans a range of operational and finance roles in the life sciences and technology industries. Prior to joining Aktis, Karen served as Senior Director of Financial Operations at Akcea Therapeutics/Ionis Pharmaceuticals. She previously spent several years in fast-paced, early-stage companies, including Moderna Therapeutics, Flagship Pioneering and Tango Therapeutics, building financial systems and processes for scale. Karen’s earlier career included positions at FTP Software, Progress Software, and Deloitte. Karen earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting & Business Administration from the State University of New York at Oswego and her certification from the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy. In her free time, Karen enjoys fitness, cooking and traveling with her family, and long walks with her golden retriever.
